For organizations

Understand the organization.
Decide where AI fits.

New Manual helps businesses, nonprofits, governments, institutions and associations understand their context, identify where AI can create value and decide what responsible adoption should look like.

Understand before prescribing.

What good direction requires

A shared picture of the organization before a technology decision.

Leadership understands current use, operational priorities, institutional constraints and the people affected. Opportunities are judged in context, and the organization knows what it must put in place before moving forward.

Where work can begin

The diagnostic answers three questions

01

Where can AI create genuine value?

Start from outcomes, friction and the work itself—not tool capabilities.

02

Where does it introduce unacceptable risk?

Make information, consequences, rights and human responsibility explicit.

03

What must become true to use it well?

Build the people, process, data, assurance and learning conditions around the use.

A practical engagement

A typical 90-day engagement

The sequence is adjusted for your mandate, sector, risk, scale and starting point. By day 90, the organization has a grounded view of where AI fits, what each priority requires and what should happen next.

Days 1–30Map + assess

Leadership alignment, current-use scan, staff consultation, workflow inventory, capacity baseline and interim boundaries.

Days 31–60Navigate + prioritize

Opportunity portfolio, value and risk routes, organizational dependencies and the conditions each option would require.

Days 61–90Define + decide

Roadmap, owners, capability and governance actions, targeted validation where needed, and explicit act, prepare, pause or decline decisions.

Deliverables

What you receive

The engagement leaves a record of how the organization was understood, which opportunities were considered, what responsible adoption requires and what leadership decided.

01

Leadership alignment

A clear mandate, intended outcomes, decision authority and proportionate ambition.

02

Current-use scan

A practical view of formal and informal AI use, workarounds, concerns and unmet needs.

03

Workflow inventory

Real tasks and decisions mapped with the people who perform or are affected by them.

04

Capacity profile

Evidence across purpose, task fit, people, data, assurance and sustainment.

05

Opportunity portfolio

A prioritized set of act, prepare, explore, pause and decline decisions.

06

Validation plan

The research, consultation, prototyping or testing needed for the opportunities worth pursuing.

07

Operating practice

Documented workflows, review points, ownership, support and role-based training.

08

Outcome report

What changed, for whom, at what cost and what should happen next.

The method underneath

The six stages of the MANUAL Method

Responsible by operation

Put the review step inside the workflow

New Manual helps teams make responsibility usable in the workflow: approved environments, information boundaries, clear decision rights, review standards, escalation, documentation and challenge routes proportionate to impact.

  • Privacy, security and information sensitivity
  • Human authority and meaningful review
  • Accessibility, inclusion and job-quality impacts
  • Vendor, procurement and integration conditions
  • Incident response, contestability and retirement
New Manual’s work is educational and operational. It does not replace context-specific legal, privacy, security, labour-relations or professional advice.

Common starting questions

Do we need an AI strategy first?+

You need a clear mandate, outcomes and usable interim boundaries. A perfect enterprise strategy is not a prerequisite for understanding current use, making it safer and learning from a small portfolio of real work.

Can New Manual evaluate tools?+

Yes—once the task, information, users, operating environment, value criteria and risk conditions are clear. Tool evaluation is one part of a wider adoption decision.

What makes a pilot credible?+

A baseline, bounded task, approved data route, representative work, competent review, known failure modes, value and guardrail measures, documentation and a decision date.

What if AI is not the right answer?+

Then the method should establish that early. Simplifying the process, improving data, changing responsibilities or choosing a non-AI tool can be the better outcome.

A practical first step

Start with a current-state diagnostic

Document present AI use, candidate workflows, information sensitivity, decision owners and the outcomes the organization needs to improve.
